If you would like to be kept up to date with the upcoming lists, please subscribe to my newsletter by clicking this link. I don’t send out letters too often, pretty much once a month when this list goes out… and occasionally if I release a book or something.

As always, this is not a comprehensive list, but only includes all the books I have heard about so far.

If you have a fantasy novel you are self publishing in August or beyond, let me know by filling out THIS FORM, and I shall add it to the page. There are but 3 requirements:

1) It must be a self published fantasy novel.

2) It must have a Goodreads page.

3) It must have a cover.

1st August – Last Among Equals by Peter J. Aldin

Epic Fantasy

Sometimes, it’s the outsiders who have the most to offer.

And the most to lose.

As monstrous hordes of Trell carve bloody swathes across the southern nation of Ollaj, northern Kardalan quietly revels in its neighbor’s downfall. Until the Trell appear at their own borders.

The fate of both countries now rests upon the shoulders of two unlikely heroes…

Erik Hødegaal, a disgraced Kardelian nobleman and warrior, unjustly branded a traitor and shunned for his father’s sins.

And youthful Prej, the last of Ollaj’s mages, an inexperienced apprentice who hides a secret calling she feels ill-prepared to fulfill.

To thwart the Trell scourge, these traditional enemies must forge an alliance, rallying a ragtag band of soldiers and sorcerers to face an enemy razing everything in their path.

In a world where old grudges run deep and new horrors emerge, Erik and Prej must learn to trust each other—or else bear witness to the destruction of both their homelands.

Desperate to rescue her father, Daeya turns to the Syljians for help—only to become their most valuable hostage in the war between them and the Guild. Her one bargaining coin is the same draegion magic that Gregory covets: the ancient ability to command dragons. But without the stabilizing force of a dragonbond, the draegion’s power will consume Daeya, while controlling it requires a sacrifice she’s not willing to make.

Gregory isn’t the only one seeking the runaway sorceress. Within Daeya lies another power stolen from Anordis, god of chaos—a power he is determined to reclaim. If he does, then only Daeya’s magic will stand between him and the greater pantheon’s destruction.

A sister, a mother, a lover, all lost at the uncaring hands of the Scoths, have left him with nothing but memories and ash for comfort. While stories like his are all too common, they still aren’t enough to stoke rebellion among the oppressed.

If Admar is to find hope amid the brutal occupation of his homeland, he’ll have to question how deep his convictions go. For with every crack of the enemy’s whip, he’ll know torment. With every swipe of their axes, he’ll know suffering. And every moment he refuses to act will drag him further from his destiny.
